The European Geoscience Union (EGU) is Europe’s leading geoscientific association and combines earth, planetary and space sciences. The EGU General Assembly 2018 attracted over 15,000 participants from all over the world and took place in Vienna from 7 – 12 April. Geopraevent was present with a highlight presentation about our monitoring and alarm system in Bondo/Pizzo Cengalo in the program group “Natural Hazards”.

Dr. Richard Steinacher presented the comprehensive monitoring system after the rock avalanche and major debris flow of August 21, 2017. The large event triggered our debris flow alarm system set-up in 2014 and automatically closed roads in Bondo. Subsequently, this station was repaired and extended by another gauge radar station as well as permanent monitoring of Pizzo Cengalo by georadar.
