SLYX Slow Movement Analysis: Algorithm for slow movement measurement on tailing dams

Geopraevent developed SLYX Slow Movement Analysis tailored for mining applications: the algorithm is integrated into IDS GeoRadar’s IBIS Guardian software and detects slow movements on tailing dams. SLYX Slow Movement Analysis offers a solution where conventional analyses reach their limits: reliable, accurate measurement of small and slow movements is difficult, especially on a vegetated tailing dam. Slow movements play an important role as early precursors for potentially catastrophic slope failures, as it could happen for tailing dams. 

Application on tailing dams

Reliable monitoring of slow movements over several months or even years is very challenging particularly on vegetated slopes, such as tailing dam. SLYX Slow Movement Analysis provides a powerful tool for long-term monitoring of small displacements, i.e. in the range of a few millimeters over several days to months. In addition, the algorithm can reduce negative effects of vegetation and generally improve analysis results.

Specialized algorithm and intuitive user interface

SLYX Slow Movement Analysis is based on automatic selection of the most suitable radar measurements and on dedicated evaluation algorithms for slow movements. This process makes it possible to precisely determine mm-movements over a longer period of time.

SLYX Slow Movement Analysis is integrated in the IBIS Guardian software with a dedicated interface for easier application. The analysis period and the measurement window for analysis are flexible and can be selected by each user.
