Join us at two online events in October 2020: First, we will give a presentation at the VSSW (Virtual Snow Science Workshop), the largest international snow and avalanche conference, and, in mid October, we will hold a webinar with our partner Geobrugg on construction site safety.

On Monday, October 5, 2020, at 8 PM (CEST), we will present our autonomous multi-station avalanche detection system for road safety at Bear Pass (British Columbia, Canada) at this year’s virtual version of the International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW).

The real-time avalanche detection system on Highway 37A was tailored to the remote location and harsh environmental conditions at Bear Pass and consists of two avalanche radar stations and a radio link station for independent data transmission. The system is designed for autonomous operation of more than 6 months without on-site intervention. In the first season, the system detected more than 1200 events and assisted the avalanche team to reduce avalanche-related road closures of Highway 37A by more than 40%.

On Wednesday October 21st at 10h00 (CEST) we invite you tojoin the webinar “Maximize construction site safety – Synergies of innovative slope monitoring and structural protection systems“ in cooperation with our partner Geobrugg.

Managing slope instabilities is a challenging task for construction site planners and managers. Autonomous monitoring systems based on novel radar and camera technology allow for reliable detection of movement prior to, during and post construction.

Structural measures like rockfall barriers and -drapes complement to the monitoring systems. Recent case studies including additional features like automatic alerting, e.g. road closures, sirens and notifications are presented.
