A rockfall disrupted the railway line of the Rhaetian Railway close to Lüen on the Chur-Arosa line on October 16, 2013. Fast action was required: Could the railway be cleared from the debris right away or were further events to be expected? Together with the responsible geologist, we were able to examine the situation on October 17. A day later, we installed our interferometric radar right on the rails and on October 19, geologists and responsible personel from the Rhaetian Railway had the first spatially explicit measurements of the instable area at their disposal. Since then, we’ve uploaded spatially highly resoluted deformation measurements onto our data portal.
