GEOSummit Switzerland 2018
GEOSummit 2018 took place in Berne from 5 – 7 June 2018 according to the motto “the digital living space”. The congress brings together experts from geomatics and geoinformation and considers different groups in the field of geoinformation, technology and innovation in a broader sense.
Dr. Lorenz Meier, Geopraevent CEO, presented our innovative technologies for comprehensive monitoring of various natural hazards with examples from Bondo, the Weissmies Glacier and Zermatt in the track “Natural Hazards – Dealing with Risks”. He presented several possibilities for remote monitoring of rock and ice to the interested audience and explained how alarm systems for debris flows and avalanches work, including alert options. In addition, the Geopraevent online data portal was shown, where measurement and analysis data can be viewed at any time by users and decision-makers via a PC or smartphone.
Learn more about the monitoring systems mentioned above:
- Combination of warning and alarm system in Bondo/Pizzo Cengalo: interferometric radar monitors Pizzo Cengalo, several gauge radars detect a debris flow and immediately alert in the valley (automatic road closure, SMS, alarm horns, construction site radio).
- Correct prediction of the glacier collapse in September 2017 at Weissmies based of radar measurements.
- Avalanche radar system on the access road to Zermatt: Automatic detection of avalanches in any weather and at any time with linked road closure in real time.
